10 Minute Partner Massage
Instead of falling asleep to the sound of the
TV tonight, try something different. A short
massage before bed is a perfect way for you
and your partner to relax one another and
reconnect physically. This is not intended
to be a stimulating massage, but rather a
loving comforting massage.
Choose a nice soothing lotion or oil with
a calming scent (for example lavender lavender
is great, but rosemary, eucalyptus, or
peppermint would be too invigorating).
Turn the lights down low or even light a
candle.
Have your partner close their eyes while
you gently massage their back, stomach, legs,
and arms. Try not to talk too much and focus
more on breathing.
Repeat with the opposite partner for
another 5 minutes.
This will set the
mood for a relaxing slumber and you've done
something nice for each other together in
just 10 minutes!

Sans Cellulite
Want to firm up a few areas before slipping
into your bikini this summer? Grapefruit essential oil
has diuretic properties,
helping to remove excess water from the body
and is therefore is great for treating
cellulite.
Consider this anti-cellulite ritual to be the
icing on the cake for your health routine.
Put 3-5 drops of Grapefruit Essential Oil on
the Dry
Body Brush and rub vigorously in circular
motions over
cellulite- affected areas before shower or
bath for two
minutes every
day. Skin will become more toned and smooth
after about 2-3 weeks. At least that's what
the girls and I experienced! Sans Cellulite Package
includes Grapefruit Essential Oil and Dry
Body Brush for $25.

Refreshing Recipe

Serves 4
4 cups of Gala Apples, pureed

Method:
Combine first three ingredients into a
blender or food processor and puree until
mixture is nice and smooth. Garnish with
orange zest and serve as a deliciously
refreshing summer dessert. Can also be
served over vanilla ice cream as a garnish.

The Skinny on Dry Skin
|
'Tis the
season for dry skin. . . but it
doesn't have to be!

Are you drinking enough water?
2 liters a day is the goal.

Tip: a great way to make sure you do, is to
purchase a 1 liter polycarbonate bottle, which can
be found at Whole Foods or any drugstore, and make
sure to drink two full bottles a day.
Are you exfoliating regularly?

While moisturizing is important, it is most
effective when the dead skin cells are shed from the
surface. Grab a Dry
Body Brush (which is also recommended for
improving circulation) and make sure to slough those
dead skin cells everyday before your shower or bath.
This will not only make your skin softer and more
susceptible to receiving moisture, but it will be
the icing on the cake to your body care routine
because Dry Body Brushing tones your skin and
muscles.
Is your body wash drying you out?

Most body washes are incredibly drying and you’ll be
surprised if you actually read the back label of
your body wash. A general rule of thumb: don’t buy
it if the ingredients sound like a scary science
experiment. The best one out there is the tried and
true Dr.
Bronner’s Castile Soap. It is mild and made
from the most natural cleansers of olive oil,
coconut oil, and essential oils among others. It
smells divine and it’s highly concentrated so you
can wash your body, your dishes, and even your floor
with it without harming the environment.
Can be found at Whole Foods, CVS, or your
local health food store.
What is in your moisturizer?

Did you ever wonder why your lotion is white? It’s
dyed with titanium dioxide, which is an unnecessary
additive! Apply the general rule of thumb regarding
ingredients as recommended for body wash when
selecting a moisturizer. ReSolution Spa bath
and body oils are an ideal moisturizer because
they contain only the essentials: organic soy oil
and essential oils that leave the skin soft, but not
greasy.
Fascinating Food Tip

Goji berries are a dried fruit from The Himalayas
high in antioxidants- those free radical fighting
friends who protect us from cancer and other nasty
diseases. They are the lowest in sugar of all dried
fruits and 6 mg of Goji berries every day has been
proven to slow macular degeneration of the
retina.
Bottom line:
Add 6 mg of Goji berries (found in Whole Foods, your
local health food store, or online) in your daily
diet whether it's in your cereal, salad, trail mix,
or yogurt to maintain stronger eyesight for longer.

A Celebration of Miracles and Oil
Being the Holiday Season, I was invited to host a
Scrub Soiree for a group
of teenage girls in honor of Hanukah. Stories of
Hanukah were read and discussed as we applied
them to modern-day questions of self-realization and
how to give more love in our daily lives. I shared my
story of surviving colon cancer as a teenager and
how it inspired me to start ReSolution Spa in search
of optimum well-being.

The Scrub Soiree took place in the kitchen where we
made a Pumpkin Sugar Scrub. Did you know that
pumpkin, pineapple, and papaya are the most highly
enzymatic produce? Traditionally these are yummy
foods that we eat and they promote digestion
because of the powerful enzymes they contain which
help to break down food. When applied to the skin,
the enzymes act as and exfoliating agent, eating
away the dead cells on the skin’s surface. Add the
granules of sugar to your enzymatic pumpkin and you
have a double exfoliator! This scrub is ideal to shave
with as the pumpkin and sugar rid the dead skin cells
and allow for a clean close shave leaving behind the
worries of in-grown hairs. This scrub is fairly coarse
and is not recommended for the face, but small bits
have been known to enter the mouth.
Pumpkin Sugar Body Scrub
(I always buy organic when possible)
1 ½ tablespoons canned pumpkin
¾ cup sugar
4 oz. container with lid
Add the pumpkin to a small bowl.
Slowly pour in sugar.
Mix thoroughly and scrub away!
Lemon Olive Oil Cake Recipe

Lemon Olive Oil Cake
This cake can be served for brunch or as an after
dinner dessert with tea or a dry Chianti,
respectively. It has the consistency of a dense
pound cake and flavors of olive oil and anise are
slight and interesting.
And to eliminate the dreaded zesting job, we have
replaced 1 ½ teaspoons lemon zest with 8 drops of
Lemon Essential Oil. The
essential oil of lemon is extracted from the rind and
acts as a perfect replacement for the zest itself.
A 9-inch spring form pan is recommended for this
recipe, but you can make 4 mini- loaves or 12
individual muffins.
Ingredients:
1 1/3 cup olive oil (extra-virgin adds fruitier flavor)
1 large lemon
1 cup cake flour
5 large eggs, separated, except for one white
¾ cup granulated sugar
1 ½ tablespoons raw sugar
½ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoon anise extract
1 tablespoon anise seed
8 drops ReSolution Spa Lemon Essential Oil
Baking:
Place oven rack in middle position and preheat oven
to 350 degrees.
Grease pan with oil.
Line the bottom of the pan with wax paper.
Grease wax paper.
Beat together yolks and ½ cup sugar in a large bowl
with an electric mixer at high speed until thick and
pale, about 3 minutes.
Reduce speed to medium and add olive oil, anise
extract, ½ tablespoon anise seed, Lemon Essential
Oil, and lemon juice and beat briefly.
With a wooden spoon, fold in flour.
Beat 4 egg whites and ½ teaspoon salt in another
large bowl with clean beaters at medium-high speed
until foamy.
Add sugar incrementally and continue to beat until
egg whites are stiff, about 3 minutes.
Slowly fold the whites into the yolk mixture.
Transfer batter to pan.
Sprinkle 1 ½ tablespoons sugar and ½ tablespoon
anise seed evenly on top.
Bake until puffed and golden and tester comes out
clean from center of cake about 35 minutes.
Cool cake in pan 10 minutes.
Transfer out of pan and let cool about 1
hour.
* TIP: Save the lemon rind after the juice is
extracted and run it through the garbage disposal for
disinfecting your sink.

Brunch N' Scrub

A dear friend hosted a ReSolution Spa Scrub Soiree
overlooking the ocean. We began with brunch,
which was a smash success complete with mini-
raspberry and blackberry pancakes with lavender
whipped cream and fresh strawberries, an
artichoke
frittata to send you straight to the stars and
(something new for me. . .) Belgian Praline
Spread.
Oh and don't forget the mimosas: the most
important
component of Sunday Brunch.
The group was an amazing combination of like-
minded young women as well as mothers with a
genuine interest in health well-
being. We covered topics from exfoliating
with dry
body brushes and scrubs to the internal and
external
benefits of cold pressed coconut oil to name
a few.
The new Indian Soapstone diffusers
were an absolute hit and I just know all the
ladies will
look at the contents of their kitchen
cabinets in a
whole new light.
Looking for a new fun party theme? Host a Scrub Soiree!
What's New on the
Menu. . .
ReSolution Spa has sourced supreme quality Soapstone Diffusers from
the quarries near Kundla, Bombay Province in
India.
In ancient times, soapstone was used for
carvings
and seals. Soapstone is a material that
distributes
heat evenly therefore allowing the essential oil to
simmer slowly and release the aromas into the
air
gradually.
Lavender Muffin

Breast Cancer Fund Lavender Retreat
Breast Cancer Fund Lavender Retreat
Getting Involved
|
Ladies Who
Launch creator of Aromas for
Living, Vicky Rathje, hosted the first annual
Breast Cancer Fund Lavender Retreat at her
incredible lavender farm in Ventura, California. The
Breast
Cancer Fund is dedicated to finding the causes
of breast cancer and publishes an annual publication
on the relationship between toxins in the
environment and breast cancer. 100% of the proceeds
were dedicated to the Breast Cancer Fund and we
raised 5k on Saturday. It felt amazing!
The day was most enjoyable and so well organized.
There were about 60 of us present at the event. The
rolling hills of Ventura seemed like a tropical
Tuscany. The food and beverage donations were
phenomenal. On behalf of ReSolution
Spa I made lavender muffins for breakfast,
Edible Arrangements donated the fruit and a fabulous
organic lunch was catered by Mae Low and Michael X.
We were divided into five groups- Lemon, Lavender,
Chamomile, Sage, and Orange. Throughout the day each
group participated in the following five workshops:
Essential Oil Mixing- Healing Energy Massage,
Meditation, Tour of Lavender Fields (led by the
charming husband), Crystal Bowls, Yoga, and
Chanting. The energy throughout the day was truly
special. It really felt like we were far, far away
from the city. I left feeling completely renewed and
refreshed. Last night I planted a lavender sprig
that I cut from the lavender field tour- I can’t
wait to return for harvest next year!
